Receiving "No Permission to access this virtual machine"

A vmware image was created at my company for training....I then copied that (from thumb drive) to my Mac to run it and I received the following error (see attachment) when I try to run the virtual machine.

When I opened the vmware image on a windows machine - it did mention something about creating a new UUID or something....

Any ideas?

while Running the VM which option you have selected is it "Copied It " or "Moved It"?

check the permissions for the VM bundle/Folder it should be "Read & Write" access

They simply copied the vmware files (after they shut down the vmware instance) to a thumb drive, then I copied from the thumb drive to my Mac harddrive.

All of the files in the directory have read/write access for my user, for my group and for everyone.

if you have the VM image avalible in Thumb Drive then just copy the VM image and power on the VM, while powering on the VM it will ask you " I just Copied It" or "I Just Moved It" select the "I Copied It" and check you can run the VM

Remembering that a .vmwarevm bundle is actually a special directory, have you checked the permissions on the contents (see for how to get inside the bundle)?

Turns out that the directory that I copies over from the thumb driver was "locked" once I copied it (tried to rename it and found I couldn't - thats what tipped me off) to a new directory (couldn't unlock the directory no matter what) it worked just fine.

Thanks so much for all the help and the quick responses.
