Read-only file system error when opening .vmx in Fusion 8.0

I created a VM of my local machine, Win7 64bit, using vCenter.  I can open and operate the VM in VMWare Workstation 12 Pro.  When I move the VM to my mac (via a USB drive) which is running Fusion 8.0 I get an error that says this:

Read-only file system

There are no other details at all.  Not sure what is going on, any help?

Thanks

Hi,

Are you trying to run the VM straight from the USB disk and is the disk formatted as NTFS?

If so then the error is pretty much on the mark. As macOS has only readonly access to NTFS file systems.

To work around that, copy the virtual machine to your local disk and then try to run it.
