Re: Transport (VMDB) error -14: Pipe connection has been broken

I'm seeing the same issue Intel iMac Pro + Fusion 12.2.1 + Big Sur.

I had one VM working since updating a couple of weeks ago. Quit Fusion and then re-opened. That VM isn't opening now. So something didn't get saved.

All the VMs having the same issue and can't be opened.

Was working fine on Catalina and Fusion 11.x.

Hi,

Error -14 is a very general error that can popup for many things.

Please attach a vmware.log file from within the VM's bundle to a reply here so that someone can look at that. Hopefully it gives an idea on what is wrong.

Moderator note: Move reply from https://communities.vmware.com/t5/Fusion-for-Apple-Silicon-Tech/Transport-VMDB-error-14-Pipe-connect... to a new thread.

Seems to be a kernel extension issue.

This helped in my use case.

sudo kextutil /Applications/VMware\ Fusion.app/Contents/Library/kexts/vmmon.kext

It should trigger a Privacy / Systems Preferences modal and you will have to approve VMware access.
