RAM Allocation Implications

I am running VM Fusion 1.1.3 on Mac OS 10.5, have 4 GB RAM on a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU.

Installing Adobe CS on the Win XP VM recommends 1 GB RAM.

If I allocate 1GB RAM to the Win XP VM instead of the default 512MB what are the implications? Do applications in the Windows VM potentailly run slower or on both the Win XP VM and Mac?

Just looking for a bit more clarity on what may be the result of increasing the RAM allocation.

Kind of like the old days and the classic Mac OS when you had the ability to allocate RAM to individual applications....
