I'm a college student and my school uses vSphere. I am using an M1 mac mini and had downloaded VMware Fusion Tech Preview to be able to run virtual machines on it (obviously) which it works great for! Except for coursework I need to use either general VM's, or established ones through vSphere (ones the IT department sets up).
So I started trying to do my assignments in vSphere which this class needs, and when trying to launch the remote console the tech preview doesn't have support for it, and obviously, there is no remote console support yet for apple silicon.
The surprising issue though is when I try to launch the web console, I still get a popup asking whether I want to allow the page to open tech preview, doing so makes it tell me it doesn't support opening vmrc URLs, and hitting cancel just goes back. From my memory of my old mac mini (intel based) when I've done this work before, launching a web console would just open it in my web browser no?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I could probably get away with simply doing a VM machine through the tech preview then opening the page in there but that feels like it'll be aggravating operating two levels deep in VM's (OS inception anyone)
