Office 365 Says It Cannot Install on Windows 7 64Bit

I have VMWare Fusion 7 with a clean install of Windows 7 X64.  I need to install Office 365 and getting error message after a few moments that it could not install.  I tried everything the Windows help page suggested (kill antivirus, made sure enough space, etc).  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

Spoke to Microsoft support and second tier support is saying that Office 365 is not supported on VMWare??

Well, windows isn't supported on VMWare either.

Is there a reason you can't run it on the host?

I have it installed on the host which is a Mac OS, but need it for testing on the Windows environment.

Couldn't install

We're sorry, we had a problem installing your Office program(s).

Is your internet connection working? Do you have enough free space on your main hard drive?

Please try installing again after you've checked the above.


There is plenty of space, Internet speed is fast, etc.
