I'm running OSX Snow Leopard Server as a guest OS under both Fusion 3.1.3 and also the latest Fusion 4.0.1. When I open an image (e.g. a PNG file) with Preview in the guest OS, the content area of Preview where the image should be is blank.
Opening Console shows the following errors for each time Preview is opened:
Preview[PID] invalid pixel format
Preview[PID] invalid context
The competition's virtualization software works fine.
Just to follow up...
This only occurs when running Snow Leopard Server as a guest OS. With Lion as a guest, Preview seems to work fine.
Very annoying.
This same bug still exists in Fusion 7.0.
It's not only a problem with "newer" file formats, but with every image.
FYI: QuickLook is working fine.
There is no 3D acceleration for OSX guests so that might be part of it. Another piece is likely that Fusion isn't enhancing, fixing, or updating support for a very out of date version of OSX anymore.
Out of date? Well, I'll bet that Snow Leopard is the most virtualized server OS X, because many of us still need to run a few PowerPC apps using Rosetta.
