OS X 10.9 - Upgrade Fusion 3.1.4 to v6?

I have just upgraded OS X from version 10.6.8 to 10.9.  I have therefore just discovered that Fusion 3.1.4 will not run under OS X 10.9.  The VMWare website only offers upgrades from v4, is this just from a licensing perspective (i don't mind buying a full v6 licence), my main question is: if I buy and install version 6 will it be able to access / upgrade my windows partitions that are running under the now defunct VMWare 3.1.4?

Many thanks.
