No Function Keys When Using Unity Mode

I've noticed that the only icon on my touchbar when using Unity mode is a little square icon which switches VMWare Fusion back to Single Window mode. How do I restore the function keys on my touchbar? this is an absolute must for me.

I was able to figure it out by adding the guest application to the shortcuts Function Key settings in MacOS.
