NAT no longer working for bootcamp partition since upgrading to VMWare 3

VMware Fusion Version 3.0.1 (215242)

Host OS OS X 10.6.2 (64-bit)

Guest OS Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)

How often you see the problem (e.g. all the time, sometimes, rarely, etc.), and if it had previously worked in the same setup (e.g. same virtual machine, same computer) - worked fine in VMWare 2 with same bootcamp partition.

What seems to trigger the problematic behavior - problem occurs all the time

Are there are any conditions where it does work - none

If troubleshooting a network issue, please include the following additional information.

Post the output from "ipconfig /all" (Windows) or " ifconfig -a" (Linux) from both the host and the guest OS

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Rick-Vista

Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :

Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 12:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface

Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 02-00-54-55-4E-01

DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No

Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes

Details of how your host is connected to the network / Internet (Cable Modem, DSL, Router, Switch, Wired, Wireless,...) - Host OS uses wireless

Details on how networking is configured for the guest (NAT, bridged, host-only). I have tried NAT and bridged - neither seems to work.

(Sorry about the lack of markup - the "noformat" tag doesn't seem to work for me.)

Can you try removing and re-adding the network adapter?

Make sure the VM is powered off (not suspended):

From the Menu Bar > Virtual Machine > Settings > Network > click the '-' to remove > Click the '+' to add a new one.

One thing I noticed is that VMWare incorrectly detected my BootCamp partition as Windows XP Professional, when it is in fact Windows Vista. This may have been the start of the problem, but uninstalling VMWare Tools and reinstalling after correcting this did not get my network adaptor back.

Shutting down the computer, removing and then re-adding the adaptor as suggested above, fixed the problem.
