Missing folder sharing/mirroring option on M1 macOS hit with Windows 11 guest

When following this docs page, there are no Systems Settings or Sharing options as described in Step 3.

How to enable folder sharing/mirroring between Apple Silicon Mac host and Windows 11 guest?

Thank you!

The topic you referenced is part of the section "Sharing Files Between Windows and Your Intel-based Mac".

File sharing is not yet support on Apple silicon Macs. You might want to check out @Technogeezer's excellent Unofficial Guide for suggested alternatives to Fusion's file sharing.

Ideally, Linux has been far behind with stuff, so i always think this is "the year" that vmware is more focused, as yiou DO have shared folder on Linux VM, (even if it doesn't work well). Its still implemented.

VMWare knows its user base (particularly its long term) with VMWare Fusion ar not going anyway anytime soon, plus the amount of switching over to something else like Parallels will be a huge leap, because not all of these products are compatible.. i.e you can't just load up .vmware structure in Parallels, you have to convert, so that's one nail people won't always do..

VMware probably know these hurdles people will not go for, and they know people will "wait"...

When it happens ..? remains to be seen. I'm surprised 13.0.1 is not good enough yet either.. and the release notes spell absolutely nothing about shared folders on "Known issues", so to me, iot will be a while yet otherwise it would be mentioned... (i.e commingl soon), at least that's my take on it..

I could be wrong,, of course.

I believe/hope we'll see much better Windows support before or at WWDC.  If it's after that, I'd be really concerned because they'll be focused on support for the next OS, which means we might not get it until fall (and that'd be a major disappointment).

Who knows?  Maybe Fusion will be on stage this year instead of Parallels.
