I would like to use the Sync Center in Windows Vista which is only available on mobile devices. How can I make a Fusion VM which runs on my MBP think its a mobile device? I mean, in fact is \_is_ a mobile device but as far as Vista is concerned it believes to be desktop.
Georg.
This is usually controlled by the hardware profile. I'm on XP where you change the hardware profile under Settings > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Hardware Profiles > Profile > Properties. Click "This is a portable computer".
Vista must have an analagous setting somewhere.
I am afraid the hardware profiles are gone in Vista... And a TechNet search didn't give me any hints.
If there is no way... could such a feature be built into the Fusion product?
Georg.

Vista is new, I wouldn't give up yet. Someone else may a have a better answer. I know I've seen this setting elsewhere like in the Device Manager in the properties of the Computer.

I'm sure it can get in line with all other features on the wishlist.
Take a look at Microsoft's Windows Mobile device emulators (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=52fed581-8f8d-4c46-9966-4832098191b7&displaylang=en). You can run an emulated device within Fusion, then let Vista sync to that.
