Hi, welcome to the Community!
Mint works fine on Fusion, when creating the VM select Ubuntu (32 or 64 depending on your Mint version) and feed it your Mint ISO of choice.
Don'f forget to install VMware Tools as well, it'll make the OS experience a lot smoother.
