Hi,
I am running VMware Fusion 7 and I am trying setup a lab with a Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller (DNS + DHCP) vm and a Windows 7 vm.
I have added a custom Network on Fusion as vmnet4 with both “Allow virtual machines on this network to connect to external networks (using NAT)” and “Connect the host Mac to this network” checked.
“Provide addresses on this network via DHCP” is unchecked as I will be using Server 2012 DHCP.
The /Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/vmnet4/nat.conf shows 172.24.12.2/24 as my NAT gateway address.
I have configured
Server 2012 with
IP 172.24.12.10
SM 255.255.255.0
DG 172.24.12.2
PDNS 172.24.12.10
Windows 7 with
IP 172.24.12.11
SM 255.255.255.0
DG 172.24.12.2
PDNS 172.24.12.10
For some reason I am unable to access the internet on the Server 2012 or on the Windows 7.
Server 2012 can ping Windows 7 or vice versa, they can access each other network shares.
I have added 172.24.12.2 on the DNS forwarders on Server 2012; the validated column says “An unknown error occurred while validating the server.”
Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.
Can someone please help me on this !!!
Hi bickyz,
Welcome to the community.

Please try to change the Primary DNS to 172.24.12.2 on your Server 2012 and keep other settings as what you've set. Thanks.
