Installing VMware Tools

I upgraded to VMware Fusion 2. Now whenever I enter, it tells me that VMware Tools has to be installed. I followed the directions: go to the Virtual Machine Menu and select Install VMware tools, but it doesn't seem to be working. Can anyone help?

By "it does not seem working", you mean that totally nothing happens? Sometimes it's the case that after clicking Install VMware Tools, you have in the virtual machine go to My Computer (i.e. from Start menu), and there right-click on the CDROM drive and select Auto-play.
