Installing High Sierra into Fusion on MBP 2018

Hi,

Trying to install High Sierra into a new VM on the 2018 Macbook Pro... Issue I am running into is finding the ISO. VMWare offers me to use a recovery partition. "This Mac doesn't have a recovery partition". Next. I go to the app store and download High Sierra and then use that file as an ISO. Nope, "the version you're trying to download is older than what your Mac already has", so that won't work.

What is VMWare's recommended way to install Mac OS? I don't have a second Mac with which to download High Sierra from the App store.

Any ideas?

The only other way that *may* work is cloning your existing OS and using that but it will be far easier to get hold of a High Sierra installer from the Apple store using an older (friend's?) Mac. I used my older MBA to download a copy of the installer from the Apple store.

This is a known problem with High Sierra - the recovery partition doesn't work.  Unfortunately the only workaround is to download high-sierra.  You can also go into an apple store and get a copy on a USB thumb drive from there.

You can try to opt-click on the 'purchased' tab, or the 'download' button for High Sierra to see if that'll overcome the 'too smart for it's own good' app store.
