How to send "ScrollLock" using a MacBook Pro

Hi,

Just downloaded Fusion Beta and happilly booted FreeBSD CURRENT i386 from 200608 (Parallels doesn't boot to the end of the kernel)

I was trying to see the kernel boot log but I need ScrollLock for that and my MacBookPro doesn't have that particular key.

Parallels has an option for sending some keys to the VM, ScrollLock being one of them.

Is there a workaround?

If not this is a feature request Smiley Wink

Mac OS X does not support Scroll Lock, and Fusion doesn't yet have a way to emulate Scroll Lock on the Mac.

Can you use Ctrl-S and Ctrl-Q to pause and resume the console, instead of Scroll Lock?

If that doesn't work, you might also try attaching an external USB keyboard. Fusion won't support the keyboard LED for Scroll Lock, but it will probably pass the keypress itself to the guest.

Pausing the console is not an option....

I tried connecting and old Sun USB keyboard I have here and amazingly OSX died. Only the mouse moved, but nothing was running 😐

Having to use an external usb keyboard on a laptop kills the whole point of a laptop Smiley Wink

It's actually the Mac OS X operating system that has no notion of scroll lock. Smiley Sad It's just not in the OS at all.

Hi rcardona,

I believe (but I'm not sure) that those options only apply to the Linux version of Workstation, since they use X11 functionality.

That's not to say we couldn't do something similar for Mac OS hosts! If folks need more full-featured keyboard remapping functionality, please submit Support Requests.
