How to install VMWare Tools in new Ubuntu Linux VM

I am using the newest VMWare Fusion for Mac and installing the newest version of Ubuntu. I just finished installing it but where my problem is is setting up VMWare Tools. Once I go into Ubuntu I select install VMWare Tools but don't know where to go from there. What do I need to do?

VMware Fusion menu bar > Help > VMware Fusion Help > Creating Virtual Machines > Installing and Upgrading VMware Tools > To install or upgrade VMware Tools in a Linux virtual machine from the command line with the tar installer or RPM Installer
