I have a bootable DVD, but WinXP Pro doesn´t start in the virtual machine of VMware Fusion 3.0.1 on my MacBook.
Doesn´t Fusion 3.0.1 support this boot option for WinXP? When Fusion is learning this boot option?

YES.
When Fusion is learning this boot option?
I think you missed something. did you enable the CD/DVD drive? It may sound sarcastic, but you would be surprised how many people over look this obvious setting, so we always ask.
And of course the DVD itself must be boot able, are you using the actual DISK or ISO? If it's the disk, is it on the MAC, and you using Disk because you also have to enable the client option AFTER the VM starts.
Thanks, RParker, for your fast response!
I have the original Windows Boot DVD, but it doesn´t boot. Also I have the partition manager DVD "Acronis Disk Director" and it doesn´t boot.
In WinXP I can see, what is on the DVD and I can install a WinXP out of the running OS, but boot from DVD is another quality.
I hope, in the next time Fusion comes with this option "Booting from CD/DVD", it´s a important option!

It already has it. Have a look at...
VMware Fusion (menu bar) > Help > Search > type Startup Device and then select Select a Startup Device
