How do you install vmware tools in Ubuntu 11.10 in 4.0.2?

Everytime I select Reinstall VMware tools menu happens. ie. nothing appears under /media

Also, if I enable cd/dvd and do the same VMwareTools.... appears but then there's a input/output error when trying to copy it.

Please try copy the Linux.iso to Desktop, and select it from CD/DVD settings.

/Applications/VMware\ Fusion.app/Contents/Library/isoimages/linux.iso

I Think your CD/DVD is corrupter, please change it and try again.

That makes absolutely no sense here!

The VMware Tools packages are ISO images, automatically downloaded and checksummed by Fusion...
