Hello,
I have just started with VMware Fusion 4.1 and I want to create a local network for tests. On VMware workstation it is quite easy to do, but on Fusion, it won't allow trafic between my guests.
I have 2 linux guests up and running, both with ssh service enabled. I can ping each guests from them and also from OS Lion, but I can't ssh from one guest to the other, it tells me there is no route to the host. I can ssh from OS Lion to the guests.
Does anyone would know how I can enable more than ICMP trafic between the guests ?
Thanks in advance,
Will
Well first of all let me say that I have no problem doing an ssh session between Host to Guest, Guest to Host and or Guest to Guest under Mac OS X Lion and VMware Fusion 4.1.1. So I'd say you do not have something properly configured and if using Fedora the first thing I do is disable the Firewall and SELinux, at least while testing connectivity and then go from there.
What distro and version of Linux are you using? And...
To help figure out what is what the best way to provide comprehensive diagnostic information is to use the "Collect Support Information" command from the VMware Fusion (menu bar) > Help > Collect Support Information and then attach the .tgz file it created on your Desktop to a reply post.
I'm using Fedora distro, but can I can try with any other distro.
What I really need to know is if it is possible to have a communication established between 2 guests. Fusion seems not allow it. Or if it is possible, how can I enable it. I have all the services I need started on the guest side and listening for connections.
I'll send the support information report as soon as I get home.
Thanks in advance,
Will

That was the answer I was looking for, just to make sure it was not something with Fusion.
And that did the trick, I enabled the services on my guests but forgot to allow the ports on the firewall, so I saw the ports were listening, but did not connect because the firewall was blocking. I allowed the ports I need and was able to connect to the services now.
Thanks for your help on that.
