Greetings,
Sorry for posting this earlier in the wrong place.
My host is a MacBook Pro with OS X - 10.6.3, the guest OS is Windows XP - SP3.
I am using VMWare Fusion 3.0.2. I'm looking for help with in being able to mount
my failed VMDK file or last night's backup VMDK file (pre-failure).
My hard drive is failing (another issue 500gb, 7200 RPM Seagate) and when I currently select the VMDK file to be
mounted using the VMDK mounter > Right click > Select "open with" > I have a choice of over 23 VMDK files.
I have selected a few different VMDK files to open and then nothing
happens.
Additionally, I use SuperDuper as a backup to an external hard drive, but when I
booted off my backup and tried to launch the VM file, I received an
error message that VM Fusion could not find the file (or something like
that).
After, I tried to mount the backup VMDK file, I get a choice of 1 VMDK
file to select. I then selcted the file and nothing happens.
Do you have any suggestions how I could mount either the failed file or the backup file?
I am going back to a going back to a good backup VM file but I need to grab by Outlook.pst files to be in business.
Thanks.
Charlie
the vmdk that should be mounted is the one with the text-description inside it.
It usually is the smallest one you have
post a list if unsure - or look it up in the vmx-file

I thought that I could use the OS X mounter by right clicking on the main VMware Fusion file, select open with VMDK mounter, and the virtual disk would appear as a volume on the MAC desktop.
I did not know you had to mount one of the files inside the VM file bundle.
Should not Snowleopard allow you to mount the main VM File?
If I show contents on the backup VM File that I hope to mount, this is the list:

Greetings,
Does anyone know why I am not able to mount my VM file using the VMDK Mounter in Snow Leopard?
This has worked in the past.
Thanks in advance.
Charlie
can you be a little bit more precise than "I am not able ..."

Does anyone know why I am not able to mount my VM file using the VMDK Mounter in Snow Leopard?
Asking a question like that without providing any information whatsoever is like expecting a doctor to cure you just from saying it hurts and not saying where it hurts.
Archive and attach the "/Users/$/Library/Logs/VMDKMounter/vmdkMounter.log" file.
Applogies for not being more specific and have disjointed posts.
I have attached the original VMDK crash log and the VMDK Mounter crash logs.
I know that a VM File suspended cannot be mounted, but I have a backup of the file from the previous eveing, which I would like to mount.
The VMDK mounter log error messages reference "Library not loaded" and "Image not found" against my backup VMFile on an external hard drive.
Let me know if you can see why I am not able to mount a backup VMfile on an external hard drive.
Thanks!
