Fusion wants to open windows media player on wmv files, not quicktime

This is probably easy, but is driving me nuts.

To open a .wmv file, Fusion 2.0/XP home wants to start and load windows media player. I don't have the share application checked and don't want to.

I just want leopard to reconize the wmv file and open Quicktime by default. I can do it for each individual file if I save them, but want it to be by default.

Thanks

It's not totally clear whether your talking about playing a .wmv file in the Guest or the Host. If you want to open a .wvm file in Quicktime running on Leopard then set it as the default in Leopard as Fusion doesn't control this.

BTW Unless your using a plug in that supports running .wvm files with Quicktime running on Leopard I don't believe Quicktime running on Leopard supports .wvm files nor have I seen a plug in for this.

You may want to try VLC Media Player if you want to play .wmv files under Leopard.

Thanks Woody, I want to play wmv on the host (my mac).

I don't want my client (XP) to be able to open Windows Media Player.

Even if I have Fusion closed, the wmv file causes it to automatically open.

This is all done in Leopard Mail.

But, if I save the wmv attachment to the HDD, Quicktime will play them, if I select Open, Use, Other, Applications.

So, I'm still trying to find how to set Leopard's default.

This is a general OS X question, not really related to Fusion. In the Finder, do a Get Info on a wmv file. In the Open with section, select Quicktime and choose Change All...
