Fusion slower than Vmware workstation for Windows?

I have a pc with a cpu Intel p4 ht 3.06 Ghz, 1.5 Gb of ram with xpsp2 and virtual machine with 256mb of ram running xpsp2 using Workstation 5. A similar virtual machine on my iMac 20" with 1Gb of ram is much slower and mac os x is less reative than xp. Is it normal? I noticed that Fusion RC1 is slower than beta 4.

What tasks are slower? Can you provide reproduction steps and measurements?

Well, I don't have measurements. It's a feeling more or less. Today I've put 2Gb of ram to my iMac and now it's much more better. Probably xp is responding faster because it has 1.5Gb of ram and the memory managements of os x it's not the best.
