Fusion doesn't accept default ISO extension on Mac: .cdr

If you rip a physical CD/DVD with Apple Disk Utility (included in the OS), it's default extension is .cdr. In the new VM wizard, when it asks if I plan to install an OS from the physical drive or an ISO, I chose, ISO but I'm allowed to select OS X's default extension of a .cdr file.

This seems like an oversight to me.

Excellent suggestion. We should definitely offer to open any file extension, as well as filtering for both .iso (the de facto standard on the Internet) and .cdr (the Mac standard).
