Fusion Pro 8.5.8 License Key

I purchased an iMac a few months ago with Fusion Pro 8.5.8 installed.Everything was fine until I upgraded the OS to High Sierra.I then decided I would upgrade to Fusion 10 but was told I could not because my License key for 8.5.8 was not recognised by the VMWare database.I have had good service from the VMWare support team but I would like to know what happened.

Anyone else had this problem?

I think that in this case, the only one who can sched light on this, is the one from whom you purchased the iMac, i.e. the Fusion license.

I'm looking ahead at what it will take for me to do a similar upgrade with my 2013 Mac Book Pro currently running Fusion 8.5, and found your question about the same time I found an answer for you: It looks like you need to pay for a new license. Look at this VMware page: VMware Knowledge Base
