I have an older Mac Pro which is compatible with version 11.5.7, but
not with the version 12.2.3 to which I was directed. The VMware Fusion
Player Personal Use license key which was provided is rejected by
11.5.7.
Is there any hope for free, non-commercial use of an older Fusion
version (beyond the 30-day trial)?
Fusion 11 did not have a personal use license option. So there not a compatible offering to downgrade a Fusion 12 personal use license to. And since Fusion 11 is no longer sold or receiving technical support, it’s unlikely they will go back and add the option for a personal use license.
So the answer, unfortunately, is no. A paid license for Fusion 12 Player or Pro can be downgraded to a Fusion 11 version.
No. The free personal use licence was introduced with Fusion 12 Player and those licence keys are not valid for earlier versions of Fusion, nor can they be downgraded.
To get Fusion 11 now, you need to buy Fusion 12 Pro then downgrade the licence to Fusion 11 Pro via VMware Customer Connect.
It appears that a paid licence for Fusion 12 Player cannot be downgraded to version 11, probably because there was no "Fusion Player" product prior to version 12. Can anyone else confirm this?

That's what I suspected/feared. Thanks.
