Fusion 7 problems on boot

Suddenly I've been having a problem when trying to boot up windows on my mac.

During the process, I get a message.

The operation on file "/Users/joeheg/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows 7 x64.vmwarevm/Virtual Disk-000002-s001.vmdk" failed.

If the file resides on a remote file system, make sure that the network connection and the server where this disk resides are functioning properly. If the file resides on removable media, reattach the media.

Select Retry to attempt the operation again.

Select Cancel to end this session.

Select Continue to forward the error to the guest operating system.

I've attached a copy of the log

What do I do from here?

Thanks!

It may be enough to delete the *.lck folder

The file reports an I/O error:

"/Users/joeheg/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows 7 x64.vmwarevm/Virtual Disk-000002-s001.vmdk" : Input/output error.
Can you check with hexdump ?

Sorry, but I'm a total N00B. I was able to google and find out what a hexdump is. I have no idea how to get this info for a specific virtual drive.

Any help on how to get this info would be appreciated. If I'm in way over my head, just let me know.

I just wanted to check the referenced file to figure out if it is readable.

Can you check wether it exists ?

How can I tell if it's readable?

I'm back in!

After deleting the folder, I was asked to run CHKDSK.

I had to force it all the way through but eventually it finished.

I gave up last night but this morning it offered me the option of going into safe mode, which worked.

I just did a regular boot and bingo.

First thing I did was copy the data file I needed. After that, I can reinstall if necessary.

Thanks for the help

I'd definitely make a backup before using it too much, just in case.  Use finder, carbon copy cloner, or something like Wila's program (time machine doesn't work reliably).
