OK, so I upgraded to Fusion 3 (with my trial code... grrrr..) and find no option to enable Aero effects on Windows Vista 64bit. What gives? Anyone know if I am forgetting to do something?
OK, nevermind. I figured it out partially via help...
First, update your VMWare Tools
Next, just follow the instructions provided by VMWare (pasted below)
Switch to the WDDM Display Driver for Microsoft Vista or Windows 7
If you have been using the XPDM display driver, you can revert to the WDDM display driver to take advantage of its Aero support.
Procedure
Open the Control Panel from the start menu and select Device Manager.
Right-click on VMware SVGA II and click Update Driver Software.
Select Browse my computer for driver software.
Browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VMware\Drivers\wddm_video and click Next.
Confirm the installation, and restart Windows when the installation is complete.
VMware SVGA 3D (Microsoft Corp - WDDM) is the display device driver.
All I needed to do to get Aero activated was to rerun the Windows experience thinggy!!
Note: I did have the 3D thing turned on in the VM settings when I booted win7 after tthe
VM tools were installed.
