I'm using the latest version of VMWare Fusion (13) to run 100's of VM's.
several of the VM's i have are Win10 Pro. Wishing to upgrade these to Win11 Pro via Windows Update, i've added the required ENCRYPTION and TMP 2.0 hardware virtualization components.
when i attempt to upgrade via SEVERAL methods,
researching, i've performed the simple/basic steps ... clearing the update distribution folder, disabling windows update service, scandisk, etc. ... whether i attempt the upgrade via windows update, or via an ISO, it always fails.
i've attached a printscreen of the error, printscreen of the event viewer, dump of all event viewer logs, and a system dump.
i have the latest win10pro patches by microsoft ... and the latest vmware tools installed.
oddly, if i take that same VM into parallels, it upgrades to win11 pro without issues/problems.
Some Windows sources I'm seeing indicate that this kind of error that's being reported is due to an incompatible driver. Have you tried uninstalling VMware Tools, installing the upgrade, then reinstalling VMware Tools?
i will attempt this today and report back the results
... removed VMWARE Tools ... rebooted ... re-tried the Windows 11 Upgrade ... same error ... 0xc190012 ..
