Fusion 12.1.1, VM won't start, black screen

Hi,

I just downloaded a Fusion update this evening and now my virtual machine won't start.  I get a black screen with a cursor.  When I move the cursor, the computer makes a beeping sound.  Help!

Hi,

I'm not sure what happened. There's also not a lot of information, like what guest OS is this?

However clearly this is a problem.
First thing I would try in your case is to uninstall VMware Fusion -> Shut down VMware Fusion.
Then in Finder go to applications and drag VMware Fusion to the bin.
Give the password when you're being asked for that.

Reboot your mac (just to be sure there are no left overs)

Then download the latest full version - instead of the update and install that.
Download from here: https://vmware.com/go/getfusion

Try to run your VM again.

Does it work now?

Hi,

I am running OS Big Sur 11.2.3 and VMWare Fusion 12.1.1.  I won't have time to try your solution until much later today so if the info helps suggest a different fix, feel free to suggest it!

i run osx 11.3 beta 6 and no problem with fusion 12.1.1, the same before with 12.1.0

how can we help you?

Proposition: uninstall vmware fusion with the tool appcleaner to delete all components, then reboot your mac. After this do a new install with fusion 12.1.1

All my virtual machines don't have any problem without new configuring!
