Fusion 10.1.1 Macbook Pro 15" (late 2012) High Sierra 10.13.3 Launching fusion kills facetime HD internal camera

So, I have a Macbook Pro 15" (late 2012) with High Sierra 10.13.3 installed. I when I launching Fusion 10.1.1 and attempt to view the camera on a VM, or even view it from the settings for a VM, it kills the onboard Facetime HD internal camera. The only way to fix is to do a reboot with Option, CMD, P, R to zap the pram.

Now, I have originally upgraded from 10.0 to 10.1.1 Fusion.  I noticed the issue. So, I uninstalled manually and removed all old prefs etc. from Library and ~/Library. I then rebooted, after making sure to zap pram again. Then I installed Fusion 10.1.1. I imported my VMs and then added camera to each VM - Ubuntu 64-bit v 16 and a Linux Mint 18.3 64-bit host.  Immediately the camera stopped functioning in Fusion. I closed Fusion and the Facetime HD camera was no longer accessible from any app - Facetime, Photo Booth, Skype etc.

Any one else have this issue?

I found a workaround over on stack exchange: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/367951/camera-not-working-on-macos-sierra-and-high-sierra

Turns out, this is something that Parallels has already addressed with a downloadable script. Worked for me.

Just wanted to say that this works for me with the same setup as chrisdarling has. I have an open ticket with VMware support for thus issue and they had me do all sorts of things to try and narrow down the problem including uninstalling 10.1.1 and installing 8.5.10. The older version of Fusion does NOT have this problem. I will update the trouble ticket with this info.

I have probably the same issue. MB Pro 15" late 2012 with Vision 11. I am quite upset because I am using Fusion since version 2, have paid for several upgrades over the years, and still in version 11, VM Fusion steals the MacBook Facetime (iSight) camera. What a shame. The workaround with the replug_facetime (see below) works for me and re-enables the camera, once I have finished VMWare Fusion.

And, ironically enough the workaround ( http://kb.parallels.com/Attachments/kcs-40680/replug_facetime.zip) comes from the big competitor ...
