Hello,
I installed VMware RC1 (50460) on the new santa rosa MacBook Pro.
I found that quit often, the icons representing my files disappear from
the desktop for no reason. I have to reinstall vmware tool in order for
them to reappear on the desktop again. I guess this is bug. One way
to reproduce this bug is as follows:
\- under control panel, set the wait time for activating the screen saver
to one minute and wait. (This only happens if you wait long enough
that Windows ask you to login again. If you press any key the instance
the screensaver is activated, this problem does not appear.)
\- press somewhere in the virtual machine window and you are
asked to login.
\- after you have logged in, you will find that the icons of your
personal files disappear on the desktop. Also, the trash is empty
even it was not before the screensaver was activated.
\- to make those icons and files in the trash to reappear agan, you
need to reinstall vmware tools. during the installation, choose
"repair" option 2.
\- after re-installation and reboot the virtual machine, you will
find that your personal icons and files the trash reappear again.
Note that I am using the Japanese version of Windows XP Professional.
The English version may have the same problem. Also, I was a Parallels
user. I uaws VMware converter to turn the virtual machine running
under Parallels to that for Fusion.
