File not found virtual disk.vmdk and the windows has suspended.

Hi,

I have upgrade my mac to Big Sur and also VMware Fusion 12 and this is what I found after restarting.

File not found: /Users/suthipornangsuwaree/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows 10 x64.vmwarevm/Virtual Disk.vmdk

This file is required to power on this virtual machine. If this file was moved, specify the new location.

I am not a tech guy and I have spends hours solving this problem and I failed. I am asking for help. Thank you

It's gone.
You might try your luck with Time Machine or APFS snapshots, but I wouldn't bank on being able to recover the disk.

How does one create a dummy VM with the missing file name changes? I have received the same error message and my computer is missing files -s001 through -s005. I would like to recreate them as dummy files and see if I can recover my virtual machine.

If you order a one-piece virtual disk you will not get  those slices named: name-s00*.vmdks.
But it is highly recommended to use split vmdks - with split vmdks your VM can survive small areas of corruption.
A one piece vmdk would be lost in the same scenario.
