Current Computer setup:
13" Macbook Pro
Mac OS X v 10.6.4
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Snow Leopard installed
When I select Virtual PC, and install Win XP, it goes through copying files and whatnot, before saying that a recognizable disk is not inserted. Please insert a Win XP disk.
I have heard that it has something to do with the service pack 1. Is that effecting the setup? Must I get service pack 2? If so, how do I get service pack 2?
Additional info:
Running VMware Fusion v3
Though I am using the 30 day trial...
Are you absolutely sure of the Service Pack on the CD?
If you know it's earlier than SP2 and have access to another Windows computer, you can copy the CD to a folder on your desktop, use nLite to insert this version of Service Pack 3 into the disc and then finish by telling nLite to make a disc image of the result. You can then use the image directly in Fusion to install XP.
Hi ,
Fusion does require a Win XP SP 2 disc for Easy Install. However, you might try some of these options, too:
Create a disk image, and try to install from that. See our Knowledge Base article, "Creating a Fusion virtual machine with a disk image", here:
Create a custom VM, and install XP in that. See our Knowledge Base article, "Creating a custom virtual machine in Fusion", here:
