El Capitan 10.11.1, Fusion 7.1.3, Windows 10 BOOTCAMP no longer recognizes external USB HD.

With Yosemite, Fusion 7.1.2, and Windows 10, all Fusion support for external USB HD worked.  Fusion would prompt for connect to Mac or Windows, or could configure a given USB HD to always connect to Windows 10.  Use this configuration extensively for backups.

Now:

1. Fusion does not prompt for connect to Mac or Windows when USB HD is plugged in.

2. Can use Virtual Machine / Settings / USB & Bluetooth to connect to the USB HD and to disconnect the USB HD, but Windows 10 never shows the drive is available (in Device Manager, or USB systray control, or Explorer, etc.)

3. About a minute after connection, the BOOTCAMP vmware logs show driver errors, and a GUI error will display that says: "The connection for the USB device "My Passport (Western Digital My Passport 0820)" was unsuccessful.  Driver error."

Here is a sequence of log messages:

1. Configure VMware Fusion to automatically connect to this USB HD whenever it is inserted.

2. Insert the USB HD:

4. Fusion now thinks 'My Passport' is connected.   Virtual Machines / USB & Bluetooth now shows a 'Disconnect My Passport...'   Keep the drive connected for now...

5. But after a minute, there is a timeout/error:

No, that was a different issue.   Problems with USB continue even after disabling El Capitan system integrity protection (SIP).

It's even worse.  If VMware fusion is running and I insert a USB device, the prompt will offer the option to connect to Mac or Windows.  If I select Mac, the USB device never mounts in El Capitan.  The only way I can use USB devices with El Capitan is to shutdown VMware Fusion.

Watching for El Capitan and/or VMware Fusion updates.

VMware knowledge base articles suggest that VMWare Fusion 7 does not support El Capitan.   Update to VMware Fusion 8.
