Connect 2 VMs running on 2 different hosts

Hi,

I don't find, using Google, any suitable documentation which may define how to connect (e.g.: ssh) 2 guest VMs running on 2 different hosts

  • the guest VM macOS X 10.3.3 running inside VMWare 10.1.1 (7520154) on a macOS X 10.11.6 host
  • the guest VM Debian 9.3 running inside VMWare 7.1.3 (3204469) on a macOS X 10.8.5 host

The network adapter cannot be set to a Bridget Network as the DHCP server on a Time Capsule doesn't give any DHCP address.

Only the NAT configuration (Shared with my Mac) is working correctly to connect to the internet.

None of the local resources: other time capsules, printer, router are accessible from the VM (e.g.: macOS 10.3.3

How to configure the vmnet8 (network, dhcp.conf, etc.) on both hosts to allow the 2 guests to see each others and to access to the local network resources?

Hi,

The answer still is "use bridged networking".

If your Time Capsule is not handing out IP addresses to your VMs then use a static IP address. Select an IP address outside of the DHCP range from time capsule, but within the existing range and use the same details for all of the other settings (network mask, gateway etc..)

There is no added benefit on doing this manually in vmnet8.
