I am using VMWare Fusion to run an XP VM. That XP VM is used to load vSphere in order to administer a ESXi 4.0 header.
Problem is, when I have problems using the Console in vSphere, my "escape" key is Control-Alt. Pushing Control-Alt frees up the mouse from VMWare Fusion, not from the Console in vSphere.
I don't have any control of this key mapping in vSphere.. so how can I remap Control-Alt in VMWare Fusion to another key combination?
hm... call me crazy, but isn't the default key mapping for freeing up the mouse 'Command + Control'?
You can change them by going to VMware Fusion > Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse
Try creating a new map of 'Control + Alt' to whatever you'd like from the 'Key Mappings' section.
Or am I missing something?
Thanks, after some additional screwing around, I realized I was actually trying to over-engineer the problem. I was trying to somehow remap Control-Command to Control-Alt (when in my VM), but Fusion wouldn't let me save the keymapping unless I actually used some sort of letter in combination with Control-Command.
I ended up just mapping Mac Control-Q to send PC Control-Alt.
ah cool 😃
Glad you got that sorted out... have a good one 😃
