Cannot get attributes of file on virtual machine (cancelling the file copy operation)

VMWare Fusion 8.1.1

El Capitan Host

Windows 10 Pro x64 Guest (Ver 1709)

Periodically, since updating the WIn 10 Guest to 1709, I get the "Cannot get attributes of file on virtual machine (cancelling the file copy operation)" error bubble appearing on my desktop.

I am not copying any files at the time of this error?

Thoughts?

Thx

Hi,

I have never seen your problem, but Fusion 8.1.1. is far from the latest version 8.

Instead of troubleshooting I would first suggest to update to the latest version that you can get for your current license and that is version 8.5.10.

You can download it here: Download VMware Fusion 8

I have the same issue that occurs and I'm running the latest version of Fusion(11.5.3) and Windows 10 Pro on the latest version of Catalina(10.15.4.)

It seems to be related to having a USB drive connected and then disconnected from the VM. However, that may just be a coincidence.

I have the same issue since a couple of days. The USB might be related since one of the few unusual thing i am doing is keeping a BeagleBone Black always connected via USB and also a USB-serial dongle.
