Can't See Firewire 800 Devices

Hope this post is in the right forum. If not, please advise.

I can see an external USB drive connected to my iMac (from Windows) but can't see my Firewire 800 device.

Any ideas?

Fusion doesn't support virtualized Firewilre in VMs as yet.

At the present Fusion, or any other Fusion like product, does not support direct hardware virtualization of Firewire. You can however share the Firewire Volume using VMware Shared Folders (not my favorite) or using OS X / Samba to share it.

The posts above assume your "Firewire device" is a drive. If it is not, does your device have a USB interface? You will be better off using the USB interface since no virtualization anywhere supports IEEE 1394 (firewire) ports. I would not expect this to change anytime soon.
