Can't Connect To External USB Drive On MacBook Within VMware

I am running Big Sur and 12.1.2 of VMware Fusion.

I have an external USB nVME Drive using USB C. It is formated as MS-DOS (FAT), GUID Partition Map.

It shows up on the Mac desktop but it will NOT show up within VMware.

I have gone to Virtual Machine | USB & Bluetooth but it does NOT show up.

WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?

if it's thunderbolt or USB 3.2, I don't believe Fusion supports those yet.  The alternative is to use shared folders to share the drive, or plug it into a 3.1 hub.
