Can I use a .vmdk file created on a Windows machine with Fusion?

My father-in-law just had his Mac re-formatted so now I need to reinstall Fusion for him. I'm running VMware Workstation on my windows box and I'm wondering if I can't just import the .vmdk files to Fusion. Is that possible?

Yes you can create a Virtual Machine from a VMware Virtual Hard Drive created on a Windows System or just grab the entire Virtual Machine however you may have to edit some paths in the .vmx configuration file if you use the entire Virtual Machine vs just the Virtual Hard Drive.

Also you do not need to use VMware Converter as referenced by the other reply in this thread.
