Yes, PXE boot is available.
When you create a Linux VM, try using a intel e1000e when test the PXE install.
IOW check the .vmx file if it has a line similar to this:
ethernet1.virtualDev = “e1000e”
If not, then change the ethernet1.virtualDev line.
The other virtual network cards such as vmxnet3 also have pxe boot capabilities, but I don't think the driver is part of all Linux distributions at this time? (I might be wrong)
