CPU Overload

MacOS BigSur 11.1
MacBookPro 2016 - i7 quadcore - 16GB RAM

VMware Fusion 12.1
Setting: 2core / RAM 4096MB out of 16384MB 

vmware-vmx causes cpu overload up to 250% while using Teams, Office ... system extremely slows down

You might need to give more information about the VM you are running - the hardware it is configured to use, the OS and version, anything else about it which may be relevant for others to help you...

First, what does task manager show for CPU usage inside the VM?

Without interaction 2-40%
Using Teams or outlook, it rises up to 100%

If that's inside the VM, then it's those applications that are causing the spike.  Nothing fusion specific.

 

I have noticed that teams in particular is really heavy CPU usage, even on my host.

Try turning off 3D acceleration for the VM.
