Big Sur 11.2.1 + Fusion 12.1: virtual adapters not enabling, not listed, unable to customize

Hello Everyone.

I'm attempting to test out VMware Fusion 12 on macOS Big Sur.

I am currently running Big Sur 11.2.1, and VMware Fusion Pro, version 12.1

The problem I am experiencing is that there does not seem to be any capability to customize virtual network adapters for any customize virtual networks users create. For example, if I create the virtual interface "vmnet2", when I run ifconfig -a on the command line of my mac, I expect to see the interface vmnet2 listed. As far as macOS Big Sur is concerned however, the virtual interface doesn't exist at all.Compare the output of ifconfig -a | grep vmnet on Big Sur:

and look at output from the same command on macOS Catalina:

The network preferences menu doesn't even include options for enabling/disabling  virtual network interfaces at all:bs.png

Compare this to Fusion 12.1 on Catalina:

How can I troubleshoot this? How do I enable/disable virtual interfaces? Is there a method to configure static IP addresses and subnet masks to virtual network interfaces on Big Sur?

Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.
