Autodetect Network Settings Not Working

Good Morning All,

I am using VMWare Fusion 8.5.9 on MacOS 10.12.6.

I have a Windows 10 VM that I selected to use Bridged Networking and Autodetect.

When I am at my desk, I use an ethernet to USB 3.0 adapter with WiFi turned off.  I can get internet on my VM with no issues.  When I remove the ethernet adapter and turn on WiFi, I cannot get internet access on my Windows 10 VM.  All I get is an Unidentified Network icon in my taskbar.  When I select the WiFi device in the VMWare Fusion network settings, it still does not work.

Interestingly enough, when I am on WiFi at my home, everything works fine, even on Autodetect network settings.

Is there something I am missing here?  Do I have to restart the VM every time I change network settings?  Seems like Autodetect should be able to switch between wired and wireless without having to restart.

Thank you,

Jake

Hi sjcasas8 ,

Which kind of Router/Switch do you use for Internet access?

At my desk I have a Netgear 8-port switch.  This goes to a desktop and our IP phone.  It's fed from the a wall jack in my cube, which goes to a Cisco 3650.
