Apple Para-virtualized GPU not supported on Fusion 12.2

Hi everybody,

Today I upgraded to Fusion 12.2 and when trying to run my Mac (Big Sur and Monterey beta 10) VMs found that the recent GPU based on metal is not supported in this upgrade?

Did Fusion integrate the native paravirtualized GPU so I don't have to modify the vmx anymore?

I'm running Fusion 12.2 on macOS Big Sur 11.6, iMac 2020 with Intel CPU.

Thanks for any support

Alessandro

I checked my Apple GPU Vmx and they are working.  They are set for hardware version 18 under compatibility.

You should check your compatibility setting?

Thanks @gringley that worked!

I was on HW v17, and after updating to v18 the VM booted and worked fine.

Are you getting the Monterey beta to work with Apple GPU?  I tried hardware version 19 as well and Monterey beta 10 puts up a different color noise pattern than Big Sur did but never boots for me?

Yep,

I have Monterey Beta 10 running flawlessly with Apple GPU.

I'm on Fusion 12.2 now, HW version 18, and the latest VM tools bundled with 12.2.

Did you update the VM tools in the VM?

I had manually updated to VMtools 11.3.5 last month.  I went ahead and uninstalled them and rebooted, then installed from the 12.2 GUI which then installed 11.3.5.  The Apple GPU then worked after the reboot.
