After Virtualbox .ova file import, no CD drive

After importing a virtual box export of a Windows 7 VM, I have no virtual CD drive, and don't see any way to make one. So I'm unable to install the host tools.

Any ideas?

Do you see a drop down box with a plus sign in the settings screen? Which options does it show?

Please post a screenshot of the VM's settings.

Here's what I see for CD settings. If I choose auto-detect, it says there's no such device. To be clear, I'm on an iMac with no DVD drive.

I could be wrong, but even without a physical drive, you should see the drive in the guest OS, and be able to present an .iso image as a CD/DVD to the guest.

Just to clarify. Aren't you able to add the CD/DVD drive to the VM's settings, or don't you see it in the guest OS even though it's present in the VM's settings?

Reason I started the post was that I was unable to mount the Vmware tools. For other reasons I had to do a complete reinstall of Win 7, and it's working ok now.

Thanks
