Hi,
I am running Fusion v3.1.4. Are the mirrored folders limited to just the following?
Is there any way to add another mirrored folder, e.g add the Movies folder (on my Mac) to Windows 7 Videos library?
Thanks.
Best regards,
Jude.
VMware Fusion 6 enables the following Host Folders to be set as Mirrored Folders.
So upgrading to VMware Fusion 6 is the only way to do it from the VMware Fusion UI however...
Mirrored Folders is little more then a Shell Folders and User Shell Folders redirect in that, as an example, it changes the default value of My Video in the Windows Registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders from %USERPROFILE%\Videos to: \\vmware-host\\Shared Folders\\Movies
So if you want to do it under VMware Fusion 3.x then go to both locations in the Windows Registry and backup (File > Export...) the Keys and then change the values for My Video at both locations to \\vmware-host\\Shared Folders\\Movies and then logout/login.
Note that if you do choose to manually edit the Windows Registry keep in mind that in order to use the setting as shown herein it requires that VMware Tools be installed. Also note that at times some software installs/removal have issues when there are redirects applied to the Shell Folders and User Shell Folders and will require resetting to the default values for those actions to be successfully completed. This has noting to do with VMware per se and is a Windows Installer Issue and would occur on a Physical Machine under the same circumstance with redirects.

Hi WoodyZ,
Thanks for confirming. Having a UI tool would be a better. I'll take a look at VMware Fusion 6.
Thanks.
