AGP Texture acceleration NOT AVAILABLE Plz Help...

Hello,

I have an iMac 20'' with the ATI Radeon X1600 128MB card.

Everything was ok till i tried to play Lineage2.I enabled the hardware acceleration (Direct 3D) but the game required also AGP texture acceleration...

I run dxdiag and on the Display tab the AGP Text. Acc. is not available.

Do u have any recomendations?

Thx in advance Smiley Happy

Your graphics adapter in the virtual machine is a VMware SVGA II on an emulated PCI bus, not an AGP-based ATI Radion. That's because VMware (and any other virtualization environment) implements virtualized peripherals as it has to share real hardware resources with multiple virtual machines and the host OS. As a consequence, the VM does not know about real hardware functions (such as that AGP texture acceleration).

The best suggestion that I have is if your application does not run with the level of DirectX provided by VMware's virtual graphics adapter, you will need to run the program in a Boot Camp installation of Windows, not under Fusion.

At the time of the OP it was with Fusion 1.x and while there have been improvements in DirectX in Fusion 2.x nonetheless Fusion is still using a virtual graphics adapter and it the game you're trying to run required direct access to the physical graphics adapter then you're out of luck.

Have a look at:

I already took a look in there but i actually do not see lineage2 on list. I supposse it must be a really common issue

Games that absolutely require AGP acceleration are few and far between. That said, it's a lot of work to support AGP acceleration and there's very little benefit in doing so; it certainly wouldn't buy us any performance improvement. You might want to check for a patch to Lineage 2 that could possibly eliminate the requirement for AGP textures.
